Members of the Maafushi Island Council has convened with Vice President Faisal Naseem and shared their gratitude for the rapid development to the island with the current government’s projects.
According to the council members, the progress on the island is incomparable to any in the past with mega projects and initiatives being carried out at the moment. Along the same lines, members shared concerns regarding the socio-economic development of the island community and deliberated on the need to establish a sustainable waste management solution, upgrading the island harbour, and the urgent requirement for a resident gynecologist to improve healthcare.
VP addressed the concerns and affirmed the government’s continued support in providing the appropriate solution at the earliest to all matters discussed. He stated that relevant ministries will be accounted for updates on what can be done accordingly.
Reflecting on the island of Maafushi having developed as one of the main tourist hubs in the nation, VP stressed the importance of building and promoting responsible, productive, and diligent citizens to sustain the market in the long term.
Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem, the Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, and Minister at the President's Office, Ahmed Sameer also participated in the meeting.
