Vice President Faisal Naseem has visited the Villimalé district of Male and met with representatives from institutions on the island. The Vice President visited Muhyiddin School, its pre-school campus, and Villimalé Hospital, where he met with the institutions' leaders. Vice President Faisal Naseem also toured the facilities of Villimalé Ferry Terminal and briefly conversed with the staff.
The Vice President was accompanied on his visit to Villimale by the Minister of Education, Dr Aishath Ali, Special Advisor on Social Policy, Dr Musthafa Lutfi, Minister at the President's Office, Ahmed Sameer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Adam Azim, and senior Ministry of Education officials.
At the meeting, top school management officials presented their goals for the school's growth and conveyed their worries to the Vice President, who indicated that they will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities as soon as possible to find answers.
During his visit to Muhyiddin School and its pre-school site, the Vice President saw the facilities and chatted with students. While speaking with the school's top management, Vice President Faisal Naseem emphasized the need of educators in honing life skills for kids in preparation for life beyond school so that they may become valued contributors.
He commended the President's emphasis on the growth of the education sector, highlighting his recent statement that plans for pay and allowance increases aimed at the education sector were in the works.
He also emphasized significant advancements in the sector, such as the introduction of TeleKilaas, an award-winning initiative launched by the government after schools were forced to close due to the covid-19 pandemic, Inclusive Education, SEN classes, and other initiatives launched for the sector's progress.
Later, the Vice President paid a visit to Villimalé Hospital and spoke with the hospital's senior administration and personnel. The hospital administration highlighted problems and concerns about the hospital's operation, particularly the difficulty the hospital has in offering services owing to space restrictions.
