Ambassador Yanai Calls Upon VP Faisal Naseem

On Wednesday morning, H.E. Keiko Yanai called upon H.E. Vice President Faisal Naseem on a courtesy call held at the President’s Office.  
 
Both parties shared updated on major mutual projects that are currently ongoing, ranging from grassroots movements to vaccine donations. 
 
Ambassador Yanai and VP also touched upon the plans in discussion for the future in the Maldives under the continued support and assistance from Japanese government. These include the provision of sea ambulances, waste disposal and capacity building in young persons, with a special focus on subgroups such as disabled persons, women and children. 
 
VP thanked Ambassador Yanai on behalf of the Maldivian government, for the pivotal role her country plays in contributing to the development of Maldives in various capacities. Japan's aid to the Maldivian government can be seen across all areas of the country through grants, assistance, and by conducting multiple projects that positively impacted the Maldivian communities. Moreover, from the Malé city seawall, to schools and health centres have also been supported for by the Japanese government.  
 
Ambassador Yanai and VP exchanged sincere hope that both countries can soon fully recover from the impacts of the Covid19 pandemic.  
 
The meeting ended on a keen note, with both parties sharing an eagerness to continue working together to further the partnership between the two countries.
