Migrants Rights Are Human Rights Too

There is no doubt about the amount of distress COVID19 has caused our mental health. It has affected people of all classes. From the highs to the very lows. One part of our population that has been affected the worst are the migrant workers.

Over the months, we have heard of the inhuman conditions the workers have been put, now more, after COVID hit. From accommodation to food, these workers have been doing whatever they can to survive through the night.

With the horrific conditions now in light, many volunteer organizations have come forth fighting for justice for the migrant’s rights. One of the most miraculous organizations notable is Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM). This non-profit organization advocates for the rights, transform vulnerabilities and actualize justice for migrant workers following a human-rights based approach.

MMWM invites you to join hands with them to bring a change to the neglected aspect in our economy. By volunteering you can not only help them, but help yourself too. How you may ask? Below, are some of the benefits you can get by volunteering.

Volunteering brings a number of positivity into your life. From boosting your self-confidence, to helping in depression, this activity is known to increase your social and relationship skills. Not only does this bring joy to the person on the receiving end, it will bring joy to you knowing that your small act of kindness could make someone else’s day. From learning new job skills, volunteering can also provide a career experience. It could help you realize which direction you would want to go career-wise.
