New Guidelines Set Regarding Inter-Island Travel by HPA

Starting September 1, the following guidelines will be in place regarding travel from one island to another.

Factors considered in regarding the island to have completed vaccination coverage:

  • 90% of the eligible population above the age of 12 on the island having completed vaccination
  • 90% of the elderly (above 65 years of age) population completed vaccination
  • Islands with guesthouses must have fully vaccinated 95% of those involved in the tourism sector from the island

Measures regulated under the new guidelines:
For those who have received both the doses of vaccine and completed 14 days from the last jab, travelling to an island that has completed vaccination coverage:

  • No PCR test and quarantine required if the positive case rate below 5% of the samples taken on the departing island
  • If the positive rate of the departing island exceeds 5% of the samples taken, a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to departure is required

Travelers who have not completed vaccination are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine in the destination island. Their release will be based on obtaining a negative PCR test upon completion of the quarantine period. If the island of departure is has not completed the vaccination coverage, an additional negative PCR test done 72 hours before departure will be required. All PCR tests must be funded by travelers themselves.
