A Dedicated Parking Zone for Residents of Villimale Opens in Male City

Male’ City Council has opened a parking zone dedicated for only Villimale’ residents. It is located in front of the Tsunami Monument, in Boduthakurufaanu Magu. Villimale’ is an island where driving motor vehicles is prohibited. 

The newly opened parking zone has 20 allocated slots for 4-wheelers. This zone is specialized for pickups, cars and vans which weighs less than 350 kilos.  

Applications to reserve the slots will be opened soon. The applications must be submitted in the form of a request letter to the City Council along with an ID card copy of the requester, and the Vehicle Registry. Additionally, Yearly Payment slip and Road Worthiness Certificate is also required.  

Male’ city council would be allocating slots for taxi cars and pickups for MVR 750 per month. Private vehicles cost MVR 1500 per slot per month. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the fee has been reduced to MVR 1000 until further notice.
