Maldives Customs Services has released their monthly statistics for import and export statistics for the month of June 2021. The imported goods have increased 44% compared to same time last year whilst the exported goods increased 3%.
Goods worth MVR 3 billion was imported including fuel in total this June whilst MVR 228 million was exported. The government received MVR 247 million in duty revenue from the documented trade in and out of the Maldives. June also showed a royalty of MVR 1 million.
Oman was the top importer for the Maldives with a share of 17% of the goods imported. China remained as the top second importer with 13% whilst Singapore followed with 12%. UAE and India remained fourth with both countries sharing 11%. Thailand remained the most goods exported country with 30%, Japan and Germany with 16% and UK and Switzerland with 6% and 5% respectively.
Vessels arrived to Maldives compared to last year of June had increased by 15 vessels and vessels departed increased by 20 vessels. The total number of declarations processed had almost doubled as well as it was 6,593 forms last June whilst it was 13,831 forms this June.
