The Ministry of Education has decided that foreign teachers returning back to Maldives prior to new academic year have to complete a quarantine period of five days before reporting to work at school. Quarantine period begins from the day of arrival.
The notice came at a time coinciding with new rules set by HPA for work-permit holders who are arriving to the Maldives.
Hence, in regard to this matter the ministry of education and HPA have decided and informed the schools that the foreign teachers have to be quarantined in their residence in the island for five days starting from the arrival to Maldives and are not to come to school without a negative covid 19 test result after completion of quarantine.
According to the new Academic calendar, all employees who are directly involved in teaching are to report to school on August 3, 2021. However, as the Eid Al-Adha and Independence Day holidays were extended through July 28 and 29, the Government has decided to add two more days to the academic staff's holidays and the reporting day for all staff to be changed to August 5, 2021.
