In a press conference held yesterday by the Health Emergency Operation Center, it has been announced that a nationwide vaccination drive will commence this Saturday.
Speaking with the press, Spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Nazla Rafeeg stated that Maldives has received its order for the AstraZeneca vaccines from Singapore, and that the amount received will be sufficient to complete vaccination for those who have not received any at the moment.
The aim of the vaccination program is to fully vaccinate 90% of the eligible population in the country by the end of August 2021.
In addition to the vaccination centers in the Greater Male area, hospitals and health centres in the atolls have begun the vaccinations in the islands.
As of today, COVID-19 vaccination appointments for the first and second dose of AstraZeneca vaccines are now open for all residents in Greater Malé Area.
