Maldives Police Signs A Contract With ABL Indira JV For Infrastructure Development

Maldives Police signs a contract of 48 million with an Indian Company, ABL Indira. The purpose of the development deal is to develop the police organizations.  
 
The agreement was signed by the Commissioner of Maldives Police, Mohamed Hameed and the Founder of ABL Indira, Bupesh Nagaraajan.  

61 police facilities and buildings will be constructed and enhancing the development in existing facilities under the agreement. This includes a custodial facility and expansion of two existing buildings in K. Dhoonidhoo. It also includes 23 police stations in the atolls, 21 police posts, eight atoll police stations, a police station in Male’, and a police station and four accommodation buildings in Hulhumale’ Phase II. 

The projects will lead to the establishment of police stations across Maldives, and facilitate the delivery of modern and democratic services required by the people in a decentralized system. It would also meet international standards on the detention facility and fulfil the basic requirements. 

This project is carried out using a single-source contracting method. The police stated that 85% of the project cost will be funded through a loan between the Maldivian government and the EXIM Bank of India, and the remaining 15% will be funded by the Maldivian government. 

The police said their cost analysis showed that the cost of the project was relatively lower than in the past infrastructure development projects under the Public Service Investment Program.
