Japan Grants USD 998,000 to Maldives

Government of Maldives signs with the Government of Japan in an agreement for the Exchange of Notes to provide a grant aid worth Japanese Yen 110 Million to the Maldives.  
 
The ceremony was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday and was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Abdulla Shahid and Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Her Excellency Keiko Yanai. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) attended the ceremony. 
 
The initial agreement with Government of Japan was signed in 2020, making this the second year that Japan has provided Maldives with grant assistance pertaining to human resource development.  
 
This grant will be utilized for the continuation of scholarship opportunities that are offered by the Government of Japan for the fiscal year 2022 under the Japanese Project for Human Resource Development (JDS). In total, 6 scholarships will be funded this year again, as part of the project that was implemented last year.
