UNICEF Representative To The Maldives Pays A Courtesy Call To First Lady

On the courtesy call held at the Official Residence of the President, Muleeaage, yesterday, First Lady Fazna Ahmed congratulated the newly appointed representative of UNICEF to the Maldives, Marjan Montazemi, and humbly welcomed her to the Maldives. The two ladies discussed several pertinent topics such as child safety and security, education and the lasting effects of Covid-19 on the younger generations.

Marjan shared her vision for creating nationwide programs aimed children in need through complete and practical support systems. The first lady also claimed that several students have shown fear and worry at the prospect of being outside or returning to school after the extended lockdown and social distancing measures were implemented.

She emphasized the importance of finding workarounds for such obstacles in order for the children to overcome their fears. She also extended her gratitude to Marjan for UNICEF's continuous efforts to improve the lives of all Maldivian children, especially the programs conducted for the betterment of younger children and children under the care of the state.
