Held at Dharubaaruge on Wednesday, July 14th, The Vice President, Faisal Naseem, was joined by the Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem, Health Ministry’s State Ministers, Dr. Shah Abdul Mahir and Ahmed Adil, along with the senior officials of Health Emergency Operations (HEOC).
After HEOC briefed on the recent COVID-19 statistics in the country, Vice President noted that hospitalizations had gone down significantly, which indicated that restrictive measures working. However, he stated that there was still room for operational improvements. Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem had emphasized the importance of vaccination and increasing vaccination numbers.
Officials from HEOC had informed the Vice President about the potential implications of the eased restrictions and reiterated that travelling between islands should be limited unless it is absolutely necessary. The Vice President had also inquired about the quarantine and isolation facilities, and said that it should be adjusted according to the current situations.
