In accordance with article 210of the constitution, Hussain Niyazy has been appointed as the new Auditor General by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The appointment was officially announced in a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Tuesday morning. Hussain Niyazy took his oath for the post before the Supreme Court Justice, Uz. Mahaz Ali Zahir.
Hussain Niyazy has contributed in several posts at the Auditor General’s Office, including in the posts of Assistant Auditor General, Audit Manager and Assistant Auditor. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Bangalore, India.
Currently, Niyazy is a serving council member at the Maldives Institute of Chartered Accountants. He also has been an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), from the United Kingdom since 2008. Among other positions in the profession, Niyazy is the Chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives' Admission and Licensing Committee.
