Last year, Ooredoo Maldives organized an exciting virtual run event held nation-wide as part of their 15th anniversary celebrations. The event turned out to be a hit among local run enthusiasts, even gaining popularity among an international audience, with over 5000 participants from around the globe.
Reflecting back on the success of Ooredoo Atholhu Dhuvun 2020, the tradition is back with a bang for this year too! Ooredoo has opened for registration for the virtual run scheduled to take place from August 1 – 7, 2021.
So, runners assemble – and maintain HPA guidelines – as participation can be individual or with friends and family and flexible so that you can run from anywhere, anytime to complete a 5 km or 10 km category within the event timeframe. Participants who wish to complete both runs should register and complete both distances separately.
To encourage more participants to run in the event, registration is open for FREE. Registered runners will receive a digital BIB number and a confirmation message with a unique URL to upload a screenshot of the completed run route to verify their run and claim the digital finishers medal. Those who wish to receive a physical medal for their collection can request for a doorstep delivery to anywhere in the archipelago via Moolee.
Keep in mind that the recommended applications for tracking are Strava, Garmin Connect, Runtastic, Nike Run Club and Runkeeper.
“We are excited to continue this virtual run as we celebrate our 16th year with the people of Maldives and hope to see people from all corners of the nation joining in the fun” expressed CCO of Ooredoo, Hussain Niyaz.
An event that was initially meant to get us back on our feet physically amid a stressful pandemic in the year 2020 is now Ooredoo’s open call welcoming running enthusiasts and everyone who is interested in a good time, to be a part of this nationwide virtual run. Let’s make this the biggest event of the year and register by 6 p.m. on August 27, 2021.
