Parliament on National security services presented inquiry report to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was presented an inquiry report by the parliament committee on national security services, on the recent terrorist attack on the President of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed. The meeting was held at the President’s Office. The meeting was held on July 8, 2021. 

 The report was delivered to President Solih by the Member of Parliament for North Hithadhoo Constituency and Chairperson of the Committee, MP Mohamed Aslam. It was published on the Parliamentary website. 
 
Parliament approved the report containing 45 suggestions that was prepared by the National Security Services Commission. The President has carefully reviewed the findings of the report and confirmed that it is shared with the National Security Council for necessary amendments in accordance with the recommendations of the report. 
 
Committee members expressed confidence that the government will follow the recommendations made in their report. Members also emphasized that it was a query, not a formal investigation. 

Speaking to committee members after receiving the report, President Solih acknowledged the importance of such an investigation and the excellent work of the National Security Service Committee of Parliament. Committee members thanked the president for his support during the investigation and pointed out that the government agency they inquired was extremely supportive.
