Government Scrapes Off Major Restrictions, Cautions to Maintain Guidelines at All Times

At a press conference held yesterday at the President’s Office, The Spokesperson, Mabrook Azeez gives the details of additional eases the government has given from the previous COVID19 Restrictions. Along with the eases, the public must follow the basic hygiene rules given by HPA. 
 
Eases given are below. 

  • Scaling back restrictive measures starting July 8, 2021 
  • Repeal curfew in Greater Malé Area. 
  • Dine-in services in eateries allowed till 11.30 p.m. 
  • Allow gatherings of less than 30 people 
  • Fully-vaccinated people allowed to travel with negative PCR results subject to no quarantine if daily positive rate stays below 5% of the population on the island. A 7-day mandatory quarantine and a release sample is required if the positive rate is between 5% – 10% and a release sample is required. If the positive rate of the initial island is over 10%, quarantine duration is 14-days with the requirement of a release sample.  
  • Fully-vaccinated resort staff allowed to travel with negative PCR results. (10% resort staff must be randomly sampled every month as part of the active surveillance.) 
  • Allow sporting activities (except tournaments). 
  • Allow opening of tuition centers and Quran classes as per set guidelines. 
  • Cinemas will be open as per set guidelines. 
  • Retails shops will be open as per set guidelines. 
  • Construction work will be open as per set guidelines. 
  • Allow opening of day-care centers as per guidelines. 
  • Tourists from South Asia allowed to travel only to resorts from July 15th onwards. (South Asian Travelers will not be allowed to travel to guest houses in local islands.) 
  • Reduce quarantine period to 7-days for inbound international travelers (fully-vaccinated with WHO EUL vaccines) with less than 96-hour negative PCR results. 
  • Local companies must arrange quarantine facility for foreign workers who returns to Maldives. 
  • Domestic workers returning to Maldives must be quarantined at the facility HPA assigns.
