Abbas Faiz, The Special Envoy Elected By The President, Arrives To Maldives

After the terrorist attack on ex-president Mohamed Nasheed on May 6th, 2021, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had appointed Abbas Faiz, a special envoy, on May 19th to monitor the investigation, prosecution and the trial of the said attack. Abbas Faiz arrived on Friday morning and was received by the Chief of Staff at the President’s Office, Ali Zahir. 
 
Abbas was mandated to ensure all the stages of the investigation, prosecution and the trial of the alleged perpetrators meet the standard of international best practices and national laws. Abbas Faiz’s oversight of the ongoing investigation will be conducted within the parameters set by the Prosecutor General.
