MIRA Signs Second Capacity Building Program with Tax Inspectors Without Borders

A virtual ceremony was held yesterday with participants from Tax Inspectors Without Borders, United Nations Development Program, and Maldives Inland Revenue Authority joining to launch the second capacity building program for tax auditors.  
 
TIWB is a joint initiative of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the UNDP. The organization assists developing countries in revenue mobilization and building capacity in auditing compliance levels of Multinational Enterprises.

This program is a follow-up of the first edition that successfully launched in August 2018. The current program will focus on capacity building for auditors on international taxation issues faced in auditing taxpayers in tourism and hospitality industry. The 2-year program will be carried out both on-site and remotely for participants including offering practical assistance and additional support through remote missions.

During the event, the importance of the program for particiants was highlighted. The Commissioner General of Taxation, Mr. Fathuhulla Jameel stated that the program was a key contributor to enabling auditors to gain in-depth knowledge in transfer pricing. This year, Mr. Colin Ross Hutchins will be joining the program to provide his expertise.
