In a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Maldives has donated a generous sum of money towards the implementation of Geveshi Gulhun Campaign led by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.
The agreement for the funds worth MVR 2,972,205 was signed by Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Aishath Mohamed Didi and the Multilateral Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hala Hameed. On Pakistan’s end, the commitment was signed by High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the Maldives, Vice Admiral, Athar Mukhthar. The generous aid was donated on a joint monitoring basis.
Geveshi Gulhun Campaign is a nationwide awareness campaign addressing the issue of household abuse which commenced in July 2020. Fighting against household abuse is a priority issue supported by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The campaign is conducted as a government initiative led by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.
With the funds by Pakistan, greater effort will be put into increasing the reach of the campaign.
