Ramping up their Agent Banking services, Bank of Maldives has announced the appointment of 12 new islands to the service, bringing the total to 62 islands across the country. Introduced in 2014, this service is part of the Bank’s financial inclusion strategy to enable customers to easily access basic banking services at islands without a physical bank presence.
The 12 new islands where the service was introduced are:

Under the service, BML customers on the islands can make cash deposits of up to MVR 10,000 via Agents. They can also make payments for loans and credit cards. In addition, customers can withdraw MVR2,000 per day without any charges.
Amid the restrictions in the pandemic, BML has been playing an active role to provide continuous banking services to its customers. As of today, there are over 200 agents providing cash withdrawal services and over 60 agents providing cash deposits as well as payment services for free.
