State Trading Organization called for interested parties in March this year, to submit proposals to become agents of the company who work in supplying their construction material to the islands. 22 parties expressed interest and, in a ceremony held on Thursday, all of them have been appointed as official agents of STO.
This new business model of working with agents will prove to be one of the most successful for STO, says General Manager of STO Energy and Construction Solutions, Mohamed Eman. He stated that this concept will ensure that the best-grade construction materials at affordable rates are in continuous supply to even the most remote islands across the Maldives via the agents. It also provides a feasible means of income to small businesses who are now appointed agents of STO.
The company will further build on this concept and open for nation-wide public application to become agents in July.
