MIRA Extends Deadline of Annual Report and Statement of Donations Submission for Charitable Organizations

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority has announced the extension of the last date of submission for two important documents for 2020 by Charitable Organizations until August 31, 2021. They are the Annual Report and the Statement of Donations.  
 
Under the Income Tax Act, NGOs that have been authorized by the Commissioner General who organize charitable activities are subject to submitting the documents on a yearly basis to MIRA. The announcement read that upon failing to do so by the extended due date, the organizations will be removed from the list of organizations approved by the Commissioner General.  
 
MIRA has on multiple occasions extended the due dates of tax submissions in lieu of the ongoing challenges amid the pandemic.
