The Energy Investor Conference 2021 held last Wednesday has concluded successfully. An initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, the conference was held virtually in collaboration with World Bank and International Solar Alliance. The conference recorded participation from over 100 investors including renowned investors from the international energy sector.
During the conference, Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Aminath Shauna delivered the opening speech. She highlighted the government’s efforts in achieving net zero in the Maldives by 2030 under its strategic action plan.

Notably, Environment Minister of Seychelles, Flavien Joubert also was in attendance.
The conference took part in informative sessions, each highlighting the ongoing efforts as part of the ASPIRE and ARISE projects. Following the sessions, a panel discussion on the importance of sustainable energy development for small island nations took place. The panel consisted of members from International Renewable Energy Agency, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and International Solar Alliance.

Joining Minister Shauna, Finance Minister, Ibrahim Ameer and Economic Development Minister, Fayyaz Ismail also spoke at the conference. The central bank of Maldives, MMA took part in the conference as well. These three parties held a Q&A session at the end of the conference to answer interesting queries posed by the participants.
