Workshop on Water Safety Plan and Sanitation Safety Plan Development Taken Up by Environment Ministry

One of the current government's electoral pledges was to develop modern infrastructure in the islands in regards to water and sewage management. With aims of building the capacity of the stakeholders of the industry to do so, and to educate those involved in the process about the fundamentals of development and implementation of Water Safety Plan and Sanitation Safety Plan, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has kicked off a 5-day workshop yesterday.

The Water Safety Plan and Sanitation Safety Plan workshop is being conducted as a nation-wide virtual training program for participants in collaboration with the World Health Organization. In the opening ceremony, WHO Representative to the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Nazneen Anwar participated alongside Minister of State for the Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Mr. Ahmed Mujthaba.  
 
During the course, members from the Ministry, Utility Regulatory Authority, Health Protection Agency, Maldives Food and Drug Authority, water and sewage service providers, city councils and atoll councils will participate in the sessions. The information shared in the workshop will play a key role in fulfilling th regulatory requirements pertaining to the water and sewerage act (8/2020).
