12 Pre-Qualifying Companies Invited to Submit Bid Proposals for the ASPIRE Project

The Accelerating Sustainable Private Investment in Renewable Energy – ASPIRE – is a project of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology in association with the World Bank. Under the project, 6 densely populated islands in the Maldives were identified and selected for the development of 11 MWh Solar Panels.  
 
Upon opening for bids, 61 interested companies expressed interest in becoming a part of the project. 34 of the registered companies submitted their prequalification and upon evaluation and analysis, 12 companies have been invited to submit their bid proposals by October 14, 2021. 

 
The 6 islands selected for the project are: 

  • Addu City (including Hulhumeedhoo) 
  • Fuvahmulah City 
  • G. Dh. Thinadhoo 
  • B. Eydhafushi 
  • Lh. Hinnavaru 
  • Kulhudhuffushi City

 
The ASPIRE project is an initiation aimed to reduce the dependency on fuel to generate our electricity. With the massive potential to develop a strong renewable energy product in the region, the private investments in such various projects will assist in constructing relevant infrastructure.
