Active Surveillance of Tourist Facilities to be Carried Out in the Greater Male Region

The Maldives has remained one of the safest post-pandemic travel havens for guests from around the world. In order to make sure that the promise remains, stakeholders of the industry have been continuously monitoring the health checks and re-strategizing wherever needed.

As safety measures in the Greater Male Region eases with positive cases decrease, the Ministry has announced an Active Surveillance targeting the tourist facilities in the region. Starting June 16, 2021, random samplings will be collected from staff at these establishments. These samples are processed without any extra charges and will be treated at a ‘priority’ basis.

The ministry advises those who give samples to limit interactions with others until a confirmed result is issued.

Officials from Health Emergency Operation Center will be assigned to the project. The ministry urges all staff of tourist establishments to humbly cooperate with the officials and fully support the initiative.
