Fun at the Beach for You, Me, and Our Differently-Abled Friends!

Earlier this year in March, Maldives Transport and Contracting company took on the initiative of building and accessible ramp in the Artificial Beach for the differently-abled community. This ambitious cause was commenced under the greater good the company commits to do for the community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives.

In the past few months, despite the rapidly changing Covid situation in the Maldives, especially in the Greater Male’ area, MTCC has managed to near the end of the construction of the project. The scope of work done includes the construction of a 48.24 sqm walkway and a ramp, a changing hoist and a shading hut.

The differently-abled community in Male’ have not been so welcome in taking part in everyday joys just because the development of the city has not considered making the facilities accessible and fit for such requirements. It is mighty good to see public giants such as MTCC reaching forward and acting towards changing the community with actions that will significantly improve and inspire others to follow in the footsteps.

Given the pandemic situation, public gatherings are restricted but once the measures ease, our disabled friends will finally have a good ‘moodhu’ day to look forward to. MTCC will be handing over the facility to the government at the earliest. The construction has been successfully completed on June 13, 2021.
