Maldives Customs Services have revealed the latest import export statistics of May 2021 and compared to the same time last year, both import, export, and revenue has shown growth levels at an average of 100%.
This year in May, goods worth MVR 3.2 billion inclusive of freight was recorded whilst MVR 333 million was exported on fob basis. They are 105% and 91% more than that recorded in May of 2020. With the recorded trade in and out of Maldives, the government earned a revenue of MVR 238 million from duty.
India remains the top value importer for the Maldives, with a share of 15% of the good imported having high value. Oman follows with a close second of 14% while UAE and China both hold 12% share respectively. Good with the most value of was exported to Thailand, Germany, England, Netherlands, and India among others.
May 2021 also saw a royalty of MVR 1,096,550.20 as reported by Customs.
