On Saturday night, a graduation ceremony was held at Mafushi Prison to congratulate the 24 trainees who graduated from ‘Certificate 3 in Custodial Management and Security’ program that was conducted by Maldives Correctional Services. This is the 6th batch that has completed the course successfully, and it is also the 24th batch to have undergone the Basic Training Program.
Given the ongoing pandemic, all safety measures were taken according to the guidelines set by the Health Protection Agency. Superintendent of Prisons, Mohamed Shahin Ali was the chief guest of the ceremony who was joined by Director Assistant of Superintendents of Prisons at Maafushi Jail, Ahmed Jadulla and members of the senior management.
A video presentation on the highlights of the program was shown at the ceremony. 24 of the initial 25 participants graduated and Private Saneem Shamail secured the award of the ‘Fittest Officer’ in this batch. The ‘Best All-Rounder' award went to Private Ahmed Nail.
The 3-month course is an initiative by the Institute of Correctional Studies aimed to educate trainees on the standards of service expected from Prison Officers who contribute at the jails. They are also familiarized with the environment and practical sessions are also included in the curriculum. The main focus is given to enhance the proper conduct of the officers while on duty through this training.
