A press conference was held today by the Ministry of Tourism for the inauguration of a Compliance Officer Training Program to be specifically conducted for tourism industry workers. The training program is conducted by the Ministry in collaboration with European Institute for Export Compliance (EIFEC) and Maldives National University (MNU).
The training program will capacitate a total number of 830 participants, in which 630 slots would be reserved for those engaged in tourist guesthouse operations and the remaining 200 slots will be reserved for Island Councils. It is set to begin on 20th October, which will be held virtually at a stretch of 5 days for 2 hours per day and is completely free of charge. Preparations for the training program began today. Participants will be awarded certification as an EIFEC approved Compliance Officer upon full completion of the training program.
Further to this, the newly trained Compliance Officers will be tasked with conducting on-site inspections on quality standards of resorts, guesthouses and safaris situated in Maldives and will be handing out stamps for those who meet the requirements.
In addressing the press conference held today, Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Mausoom notes that having this international certification assures the highest quality of services at all our tourist facilities while we are in the process of reinstating the tourism sector of the country to its state prior to the outbreak of COVID-19.
