Marked on June 14 every year, World Blood Donor Day aims to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion. It also stands to appreciate the critical contribution of voluntary, unpaid blood donors and calls on concerned authorities to take action towards providing adequate resources, systems and infrastructures to manage the service nationwide.
In order to mark the occasion this year, Maldivian Red Crescent Male Branch is collaborating with Maldivian Blood services to conduct a blood donation camo this upcoming week. Everyone who is healthy and eligible are encouraged to take part in the camp.
Maldivian Blood Services is the national body responsible for providing safe blood for patients suffering from hematological disorders like Thalassaemia and other hemoglobinopathies, and those who are in need during emergency situations.
Register as a donor and contribute to giving blood and keeping the world beating.
