Maldivian airline Flyme operated by Villa Air was granted Air Operation Certificate (AOC) marking the launch of the airline into the international aviation platform just last month, but, limited to countries within the Asian region. In this regard, the airline’s first international commute was to neighboring Sri Lanka shortly afterwards.
The airline has informed today that they will including an additional destination to their international network; India. In this regard, the airline is arranging to commence flight operations between Maamigili in Alif Dhaal Atoll and India citing the Indian tourism market as integral to Maldives.
Flight operations are targeted to commence on the first quarter of the coming year for 4 destinations in India; New Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. They also further stated that the airline was currently in the process to acquiring a narrow-body airplane for the purpose of this commute.
Prior to the pandemic, the airline operated daily flights between Male’ and Maamigili along with weekly scheduled flights to nine other domestic airports. Flyme is also noted that work was underway to begin flight operations between Maldives and China during the second quarter of 2021 with even more additions to their fleet.
Flyme is a Maldivian airline launched on March 4th of 2011.
