Open to all Asian countries, players from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, and Maldives are participating in the competition. Mohamed Shuau and Noor Farooq from the National Chess Team are representing Maldives in the tournament. While Shuau had won the first place in the Indian Ocean Blitz Tournament held in March 2021, Noor secured third place in the same competition.

In light of the ongoing pandemic, the competition is taking place on the Tornelo platform introduced by FIDE for chess players. In the past year, the trend has shown promising growth with more players keen on learning the game. Building on the potential, FIDE has been conducting various tournaments across different platforms for chess players of all capacities from around the world.
