ADK Expands Covid19 Response to Include Covid19 Admission to Special Wards

ADK has announced further expansion of the Newly-Established Day Treatment Unit at the hospital to include admission of known Covid19 positive patients who require in-patient care services.

From June 3 onwards, special in-patient wards have been allocated in the Dr. Pandian Wing of the hospital. The area is segregated from the rest of the hospital in order to minimize the contact with non-Covid patients who seek medical services at the main area.

The new setup of Covid care wards includes dedicated radiology and a designated staff area. A caregiver from the family of the patient will be allowed to stay with the patient in the Covid ward. Designated meals will be provided by the hospital for both the patients and the caregivers. Treatment to patients will be provided as per HPA and CMAT guidelines. The unit will be run by a highly professional medical team of senior and junior doctors, skilled nursing staff, and a number of selected allied staff.

The service is currently being offered as a paid service. All medication needed for patients will be provided by the hospital in association with the ADK Pharmacy. Though limited insurance cover is offered by the hospital, any additional coverage by national or private insurance will be accepted.

It is also important to note that intensive care at the ward is limited since it is not designed to operate as a Covid ICU. However, for contingency, limited capacity of intensive care is setup to provide emergency care required until transfer to Covid ICU as soon as possible.

All details regarding the service are included in this handbook.
