Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Minster of Tourism has introduced travel insurance policies covering expenses related to COVID-19 for tourists, the first of its kind in Maldives. It was launched in a joint press conference held on Wednesday, by Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.
All foreigners arriving in Maldives under tourist visa will be considered as eligible applicants for this insurance policy. Expenses incurred for medical treatment, isolation facility, emergency medical transportation and interment consequent to a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 during their stay will be covered under the policy. Tourists who wish to subscribe for this insurance policy can make applications online here; which must be completed prior to their arrival to the country. Under the policy, tourists have the option to subscribe between two insurance packages – Allied Inbound and Allied Inbound Plus – both, which is categorized by the duration of their stay being; reservations for less than 7 days and reservations for more than 7 days.
This travel insurance policy was introduced to minimize the challenges faced by businesses in the tourism industry in providing a safe operational environment for their customers. The policies were drawn up in affordable prices, in which, it is of the lowest rates in the region.
