President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended the duration of government office closure until the end of June 8, 2021. As a measure of curbing the virus spread in the greater Male Region, the directive was extended in light of the further restrictive measures that were imposed nation-wide by the hEalth Protection Agency. Regardless of the decision to close government offices, the period would not be declared government holidays.
Even though offices in Malé, Hulhumalé, Villingili, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu remain closed, employees will continue to work from home and all essential public services will be provided in respective online platforms. Also, a minimum number of required employees will be allowed to physically attend the office in order to continue services without interruption.
President Solih urges the public to remain attentive to the instructions of the Health Protection Agency and stressed on the importance of adhering to them accordingly.
