A Strict Set of Guidelines are to be Followed from Now Onwards in Islands on Monitoring Status

As of date, 75 islands have been put under monitoring status due to emergence of positive covid cases on the islands. Most often, these cases have been noted from travelers who are undergoing quarantine after travel to the island from the Greater Male Area.

As the number of cases in the islands keep growing, as is the number of islands making it to the list from across the nation, Health Protection Agency has decided to deploy the following restrictive measures on every island that is under the monitoring status.

  • Restriction of movement of people and vehicles from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. The timings will be revised for individual islands based on the level of virus spread noted in the island.
  • Remaining indoors unless absolutely necessary to go out.
  • Parties, gatherings and ceremonies banned during the period.
  • Halting visits from one household to another.
  • Restricting gatherings to a maximum of three people together at a given time while outside.
  • Saloons and gyms to close for service.
  • Sports and exercise activities halted.
  • Shops to adhere to the Health Protection Agency guidelines while giving service to customers.
  • Universities and colleges to discontinue physical sessions.
  • Cafes, restaurants and other food outlets to halt in-house dining and switch to takeaway and delivery services.

All respective authorities are to make sure that the public adheres to the above-mentioned guidelines strictly. The only exemptions from the rules are police and army men, ambulance, healthcare providers and the vehicles they use, and taskforce members in the island. Should any citizen require emergency healthcare, they can attain the service as well.
