Dr. Mohamed Muizzu Takes Oath as Newly Elected Male’ City Mayor

Elected by popular vote, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today took his oath as the new Male’ City Mayor in a hybrid ceremony held at Male’ City Hall. His oath was administered virtually by igh Court’s chief judge Hathif Hilmy on Monday morning. 

Newly elected councilors and members of the Women Development Committee also took part in the ceremony, taking their respective oath and agreement to the new positions. There are 19 elected positions in the authority. Predecessor of the Mayor, Shifa Mohamed remarked a successful journey of overcoming challenges and implementing productive solutions along the way.  

Speaking at the ceremony for the first time as the new Mayor, Dr. Muizzu assured that operations will be restored without outside political influence and the benefit of the public will be frontier priority. He further assured citizens of Male’ that their opinion will be taken into account in making all necessary decisions under the proposed action plan.
